Kansas City, MO (December 20, 2022) – Andrews McMeel Syndication (AMS) will assume sales and distribution of the Mother Goose and Grimm comic strip and editorial cartoons by Mike Peters, announced Brent Bartram, Chief Strategy Officer and General Manager of AMS. The effective date is January 1, 2023.

Peters is long recognized as one of the most prominent editorial and comic strip cartoonists working in newspapers today. National syndication of his editorial cartoons began in 1972, and in 1981, he won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. In 1984, he launched the comic strip Mother Goose and Grimm with the help of his wife, Marian. His editorial cartoons appear in more than 400 newspapers and Mother Goose and Grimm appears in more than 800 newspapers worldwide.

“The work of Mike Peters is renowned throughout the world,” said Bartram. “His comic strip appeals to all ages and has been an established favorite in newspapers for decades. Andrews McMeel is proud to represent him as his sales and distribution partner.”

Mother Goose and Grimm features a rough-and-tumble bull terrier (Grimmy), his absentminded caretaker (Mother Goose), and their storybook friends (Snow White, Rapunzel, Pinocchio, Dracula, and many other folk- and fairy-tale heroes and heroines). With an insatiable appetite for trash-can cuisine, Grimmy has never met a cat he wouldn’t torment or crossed a fire hydrant he hasn’t sniffed. He lives with Mother Goose and Atilla, the cat he loves to irritate and harass.

The comic strip is featured in numerous licensed properties and is included in the Toon Lagoon theme park at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The comic strip and editorial cartoons have been compiled into numerous book collections and have also been featured in greeting cards. The animated television series “Grimmy” was a popular favorite on CBS for many years. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, Peters is the recipient of many awards, including the Reuben Award for Cartoonist of the Year and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from the University of Dayton.

In addition to daily and Sunday newspapers, the strip and editorial cartoon will appear online on GoComics, and the features are available for print and digital syndication internationally. For sales inquiries, please contact Jan Flemington, jflemington@amuniversal.com. The strips were formerly syndicated by King Features.
