KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 17, 2019)—Atlanta-based digital executive Chris Waldron joins Andrews McMeel Universal (AMU) as Chief Digital Officer beginning May 22, announced Chief Executive Officer Andy Sareyan. Waldron joins AMU after almost 20 years at Cartoon Network, where he worked his way from web developer to General Manager and Vice President of Games and Digital Products. He will lead AMU’s Digital Products and Information Technology departments.

“Chris’ experience building and leading teams is what drew us to him initially, and it immediately became clear that he is an absolutely seamless fit for our company,” said Sareyan. “His leadership, together with his strong history of delivering innovative products and games, makes him the ideal candidate to lead AMU’s expansion into the digital game space.”

While at Cartoon Network, Waldron conceived and oversaw all aspects of business and creative development for FusionFall, a massively multiplayer online game. He won numerous industry awards and accolades during his tenure, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media, Google Play’s Best App of the Year,  and he was selected as a Digital All Star by Broadcasting and Cable, television’s premier trade organization. In addition, several of the apps Waldron spearheaded went to No. 1 in Apple’s iTunes Store.
