How many wars does it take to change a light bulb? According to Australian cartoonist Judy Horacek, 757 wars are going on in the world right now and the light bulb is still broken. In her own whimsical way, Judy makes a suggestion that is less killing and more filling: Make Cakes not War (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $14.95).

In her first collection from Andrews McMeel, Judy focuses her wit on issues of the environment and social justice as well as daily heartbreaks and victories that are familiar and relevant. Often reflective and philosophical, Judy's characters rejoice and lament in a world of talking animals, rainbow slugs, global warming, and sunsets.
