Why Can't Every Day Be Christmas?

What if every day could be Christmas? Seriously. What if every day you could wake up to all the presents, the smiling faces of loved ones, and that turkey dinner that always seems to taste better on this particular day of the year? Life wouldn't be too bad, right? But, of course, this is impossible...or is it?

"We can and should celebrate the joys and values of Christmas with those we love far more often than once a year."

According to Bradley Trevor Greive, this idea may not be as farfetched as it seems. In his new book, Every Day is Christmas (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $9.95), BTG explains that every day could be Christmas if only we could understand what this holiday is really all about. Thus, through the irresistible combination of his black and white animal photography, and witty, yet inspirational prose, he reminds us that Christmas:

  • "is a truly magical time. So magical that even folks who have been fixated on their own lot now invest serious time thinking about what they can do to brighten up someone else's life..."
  • "forges the lifelong bond between family members and reminds them just how much they have in common, regardless of where life has taken them."
  • gives us "a chance to uncork the champagne and celebrate life, love, and laughter in whatever ratio that feels right, and legal, at the time."

Yet, BTG takes this message even further. If "the meaning of Christmas is to give of yourself — to open up the joy in your heart and share it generously," then shouldn't every day, he asks, be like Christmas? The world would certainly be a better place if it was...

About Bradley Trevor Greive

Since the debut of his international best-seller The Blue Day Book, Bradley Trevor Greive has sold more than 15-million copies of his much-loved books and has become a household name in more than 105 countries. A former Australian paratrooper, BTG left the army to pursue more creative misadventures. He has been bitten by wild monkeys and rabid bats and was accepted into Russia's cosmonaut training program — though these incidents were hopefully unrelated. BTG spends most of his time in a small Australian hamlet with several enormous dogs.
