Shakespeare once said, “Brevity is the soul of wit.” If that’s true, Guy & Rodd must be the Godfathers of funny. They’re the creators of Brevity, the uproariously funny comic strip that’s taking the nation by storm. And their newest collection, Brevity 2: Another Collection of Comics by Guy & Rodd (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $12.95) doesn’t fall short.
Likened to Far Side, this equally distinctive, single-panel comic strip features an array of sporks, nerds, pirates, clowns, and other characters, perfectly illustrating the irreverent humor and obscure cultural references for which the strip is gaining fame. Fresh, original, and terribly clever, Brevity is now published in over 130 newspapers in the U.S. and Canada. Add this book to the original Brevity collection; it’s nothing short of comic genius.
Guy Endore-Kaiser was a member of the 1987 Olympic team and has two mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records. He attended Wesleyan University and USC Film School, and currently lives in a very sexy part of Los Angeles, CA.
Rodd Perry was born in Melbourne, Australia, and moved to West Chester, PA at the age of ten. After graduating from Ithaca College, he drove to Los Angeles, where he lives today with his wife, Maura, and three young sons.
