Poised to be the next comic sensation, the premier collection of The Argyle Sweater by Scott Hilburn (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $12.99) is firmly anchored in absurdity with humor both visual and cerebral. A grown-up's comic inspired by a childlike imagination, Hilburn's breakout talent charms followers with an infinite array of situations featuring dogs, cats, cops, bees, wolves, game shows, bears, telephones, sports, zebras, nursery-rhyme icons and cavemen, with an occasional evil scientist added to the mix.
A prime example of the power of the Internet, the panel was launched online by AMP affiliate UCLICK's gocomics.com in December 2006, and became an immediate hit. Released in syndication to newspapers by AMP affiliate Universal Press just months ago, this fast-growing comic is quickly becoming a reader favorite in more than 130 newspapers and as a popular greeting card line from Recycled Paper Greetings.
A look inside confirms its appeal. Panel after panel of off-the-wall humor populated by oddballs and animals bursting with personality, The Argyle Sweater fills a niche with intelligent humor, outstanding wit, and pure, unending fun. Enjoy.
Hilburn has an A.A.S. (digital arts) degree in Computer Animation and Multimedia from the Art Institute of Dallas, a B.A. in Psychology and has worked toward a M.A. in Professional Counseling/Clinical Psychology from Argosy University. A single father of two daughters, Hilburn has lived in the Dallas area all his life.
