Calendars FAQ

Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about Andrews McMeel calendars. If you have a question about a calendar you have purchased or are thinking of purchasing, or just have a question about our calendars in general, please read through the list thoroughly to see if your question might be answered here.

  1. Where can I buy Andrews McMeel calendars?
  2. Calendars for the following year are usually available for purchase beginning in August or September, and can typically be found at major bookstores such as Borders, Waldenbooks and/or Barnes & Noble, several local bookstores, as well as some department store and discount retailers. At this time, we do not sell calendar products directly to the consumer. Calendars are in stores primarily through the holiday season and into January.

All of our current products are listed on this website, www.andrewsmcmeel.com. For purchases, it can refer you to local bookstores and various online retailers. The website will give you descriptions of the different calendars, pricing, and the ISBN number that you can give to your local retailer for reference. If they don't have it in stock they can special order it for you, or you can go to an online retailer such as calendars.com or amazon.com.

  3. I really like the calendar I had this past year, but am not finding it anywhere for the current year. Why am I having trouble finding it?
  4. Our product line changes a bit from year to year, losing some titles while adding others. Check the list on this web site. If the title you're looking for is not there, it was not published this year.

  5. How do I get my own idea for a calendar to you?
  6. First, a little about the calendars we publish. Our calendar line is licensed-property intensive, comprised mainly of calendars related to best-selling books, popular cartoonists, well-known columnists, and highly rated television shows. Calendars that do not have this type of "built-in appeal" often have a difficult time competing with our other calendars at retail, and are therefore, often not right for consideration by Andrews McMeel Publishing. With this said, we do consider, and sometimes implement, original ideas we receive through submissions, and are always eager to evaluate new proposals.

If you think your calendar idea would be a good complement to our line, you may send it here (Andrews McMeel Publishing, LLC, 4520 Main St, Kansas City, MO 64111), to the attention of Michael Nonbello, our Editorial Director. Please include a thorough description of your idea, background information, intended audience, and other pertinent information. Please include at least 20 sample entries if you're suggesting a day-to-day calendar. For wall or desk calendars, include sample artwork and related text. The more thorough your presentation is, the easier it is for us to evaluate. Please be sure to send a self-addressed stamped envelope large enough for the return of your materials.

After we receive your submission, we will review it and distribute it to our editorial staff. This process can take from four to six weeks. We will then contact you as to our interest in your idea. At this date, the first calendar line we could consider your proposal for is 2010.

If you find a mistake in your calendar, are displeased with the format, or have any other questions, or comments that weren't addressed in our FAQ, please send an email to calendars@amuniversal.com, we will get back with you at our earliest convenience.
